We are Sorry!

In the January Issue of Star Magazine, the major headlines was "Katie Drug Shocker!". The headline of the story was very misleading to the actual story, which focuses more on her use of an “e-meter” during Scientology sessions, rather than a drug addiction.

In the beginning Star Magazine was unapologetic and said that they stood by their "editorial integrity" but once Katie Holmes filed a libel lawsuit, things change. Her rep claimed, "The cover is libelous no matter what they say inside the magazine."

Defamation is a serious matter and can certainly ruined ones integrity but also pockets. If Holmes won the lawsuit then Star Magazine would need to fork over the grand total of $50 million.

Star Magazine made the smart choice of apologizing and donating a "substantial" amount to Holme's charity, Dizzy Feet Foundation. This saved their company $50 million since Holmes did not push the lawsuit and accepted the apology. Hopefully Star Magazine has learned its lesson.
