We are Sorry!

In the January Issue of Star Magazine, the major headlines was "Katie Drug Shocker!". The headline of the story was very misleading to the actual story, which focuses more on her use of an “e-meter” during Scientology sessions, rather than a drug addiction.

In the beginning Star Magazine was unapologetic and said that they stood by their "editorial integrity" but once Katie Holmes filed a libel lawsuit, things change. Her rep claimed, "The cover is libelous no matter what they say inside the magazine."

Defamation is a serious matter and can certainly ruined ones integrity but also pockets. If Holmes won the lawsuit then Star Magazine would need to fork over the grand total of $50 million.

Star Magazine made the smart choice of apologizing and donating a "substantial" amount to Holme's charity, Dizzy Feet Foundation. This saved their company $50 million since Holmes did not push the lawsuit and accepted the apology. Hopefully Star Magazine has learned its lesson.

The Geordie Shore?

There are many shows borrowed and re-made between different countries like "The Office" which originally started as a British show but soon made it's way to the United States. Now joining many shows shared between different countries is "The Geordie Shore" based off of none other the MTV's "The Jersey Shore."

Yes, the UK felt the need to reproduce the original "Jersey Shore" but instead set in Newcastle, UK. The cast consists of eight house guests who seemingly resemble the original cast along with carrying many of their personalities...coincidence?

Following the same "plot" as the original, the "Geordie Shore" will follow the same routine as the original cast: GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry). Although there seems to be a lack of creativity to the UK's version it may still be a hit. I may even tune in once and a while. I'm just curious to what an Italian-British accent sounds like...

A Royal Punch

It has been concluded that President Barack Obama and first Lady Michelle Obama were not invited to the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. Over 1,900 guests were invited to the wedding excluding the Obama's.

Why do you think that decision was made? Many of us have formed our own opinions on that one...
Meanwhile, many guests to the Royal Wedding include many figureheads from commonwealth countries, friends and family. It is obvious that the Obama's did not strike the soon to be Newlywed's good side.

Michelle Obama appeared on the "Ellen DeGeneres" show and when asked about their lack of an invitation, the first lady responded with "We respect their decisions and understand." When DeGeneres asked if they would go to the wedding if possible, Michelle responded with an "of course."

Im not so sure if i sense bitterness in the non-invited Obama family, but I'm sure it could be fixed with a bit of tea and crumpets...oh wait...

The Royal Wedding will be broadcasted live on Friday April 29th around 4:30 AM United States time.

Beyoncé is no Santa Claus

Last year Beyoncé and game developer, Gate Five collaborated to form a dance game titled, Starpower: Beyoncé. In this game you would have been dancing to her greatest hits, but the game came to an halt due to their differences. These two had a feud around Christmas time, but this matter has surfaced recently, due to Gate Five's lawsuit.

Beyoncé, allegedly made a demand for more money from Gate Five (apparently the $87 million made last year was just not enough). Her demand seemed unreasonable in the eyes of Gate Five, who saw it as a contract breech and sued her.

Her action caused the company to lay off 70 employees, as well as harm the company financially, just a week before Christmas. What a great present.

But it looks like Gate Five might be receiving a late Christmas gift. In Gate Five's lawsuit they claim they are entitled to the initial $6.7 million invested into the game project and an additional $100 million for projected earnings.

I guess this time around the Court will be deciding whose naughty and nice.

Mediaocre Song of the Week: Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, but Rhianna Does Not Excite Me

Rhianna's new single, S & M, has became a hit throughout the pop world.  The song was released on January 21, 2011 and has given me nightmares ever since.
First of all, S & M stands for sadomasochism which is when people get enjoyment out of pain and beatings.  For example, people such as dominatrix are sadomasochists.  They enjoy the whips, chains, and leather.
S & M is not very common, but those who are teenage age or above have heard of it before for the most part. Which brings along my biggest reason for hating this song.  S & M is played on most radio stations that play pop or hip hop.  The radio is free air, meaning anyone could listen to it, including children. People under the age of 12 should not be listening to this kind of song.  I mean this is basically porn for your ears with a good back beat.
My last problem with this song is the fact that the lyrics have no substance whatsoever other than referencing chains and whips.  There is nothing in the song to give anyone a clue as to what a deeper meaning could be.  The song needs to get off of the radio, the people who still want to listen to it, or want to let their kids listen to it, should just buy it an put it on their I-pods.

Yes, Obama was Born in America

The White House has released President Barack Obama's birth certificate clarify that he was indeed born in Hawaii, hopefully silencing the critics that believe he was born elsewhere in the world. The White House released it after people started to pose doubts that Barack Obama was an American-born citizen.

Okay, really? Really people?? It is just sad to see that this is the kind of people we have living in our country. You would think that the United States of America, having one of the most sophisticated government systems in the world, would have check if every presidential candidate was born in the US. This is not a very difficult thing to find out, and Obama being the well educated lawyer that he is, would probably not have run for president if he wasn't a citizen.

I expected after the 2008 election that the United States of America was in a new era. Where all of the discrimination and racism was behind us after electing the first African-American president. However questioning the birthplace of the president of the United States just because he is black is taking ten steps backwards. I guess some people will never learn or and will never change.

Royal Wedding Overload

Like everyone has probably heard, Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding will take place on Friday, April 29th. It is the beautiful celebration of two individuals falling in love and it is the wedding of the potential king of England. Not to mention that this is every girl's dream; to meet and fall in love with a prince and then live happily ever after.

I understand that this story is as close to a fairytale that you could possibly get, but nowadays when I turn on the TV, all i see is royal wedding specials. All news stations make room in their broadcasts about updates on the royal wedding and have live reports in front of Buckingham Palace. I don't know about you, but none of the people I spend time around everyday has talked about the royal wedding, which only gives me the impression that no one cares. It seems like the media is trying to shove this story down our throats and to make us feel happy for two individuals we do not know.

On top of that, this extravagant wedding is being paid for by the taxes of the people of Britain. I don't know about you, but that only makes me want to watch this wedding less.

Hangover 2 Trailer Banned from Movie Theaters

The new and upcoming movie, the Hangover 2 has experienced some obstacles in its marketing.  The movies trailer has been banned in movie theaters because the content was deemed inappropriate by the MPAA because of slight language.
The trailer played with the new movie "Source Code" but was quickly taken away.  Warner Bros. was ordered to get the trailer out of all movie theaters and destroy the prints of the trailer.

I have to say that this is slightly ridiculous, considering that the trailer was put along with a PG-13 movie in the first place, which already has the same "inappropriate Content".  I also don't understand why the MPAA felt the need to get rid of the trailer, when it is perfectly capable of being accessed on websites, such as YouTube, where all people, not just those who can get into a PG-13 movie, can view it.

Lindsay Lohan Possible New Role?

When news about Lindsay Lohan erupts it usually pertains to her rehab visits, drinking, stealing, and other crazy stints. But this time around it is actually about her career, no not her diminishing one, but maybe some actual redemption. Lohan may possibly be getting a new role in a movie, Gotti: Three Generations. Her role, if she gets it, will most likely be the mafioso's daughter, Victoria. She will be co-starring with the John Travolta, who will be playing her father, John Gotti. This film in pre-production is said to have a budget of $75 million, so it is no low budget movie.

If Lohan is able to get the role, then she will finally be putting food on the table once more and no longer needs to resort to stealing.

Anchors Away...

Along with reports of Katie Couric leaving CBS, Matt Lauer and Meridith Vieira from NBC's "The Today Show" have been also reported to be leaving their jobs.
Matt Lauer after thirteen years of working for NBC claims that the show takes away time from his wife and kids. It has been reported that Lauer and Vieira have talked to former producer of the "Today Show" and might take on a different job in a different company.
Vieira on the other hand claims that the hours worked on the show are "long and grueling" and is tired of the early hours to start working. Vieira's contract is said to end at the end of September although many people are convincing her to stay.
Although the show wont be the same without Lauer or Vieira, I will still be satisfied with Al Roker telling me about "my neck of the woods".

Grammy Awards Make Drastic Cuts

The Recording Academy (equivalent to the Academy for the Oscars) has announced that they are cutting their 109 categories for awards to 78, so do not expect to see any categories like Best Hawaiian Music Album anymore.

A huge change in this is that males and females will no longer be competing separately. instead there will be categories such as Best Pop Solo, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance where they are not divided by gender.

Why is this happening? President and CEO of the Grammy's Neil Portnow says, "It was objectively determined that our Grammy categories be restructured to the continued competition and prestige of the highest and only peer-recognized award in music." In other words, they are getting rid of the categories that are not as recognized in order to keep the Grammy name as the most prominent music award.

I think this is a good change. Frankly, it bothers me that some unknown artist can win the same award as someone as legendary as Stevie Wonder. Its not a charity, I don't think we should give the supposed most prestigious award to an artist of every genre just to recognize them. If they're not popular, they're not popular. I'm glad the Recording Academy has finally realized this has trimmed the fat.

Mediaocre Person of the Week: Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen cannot seem to get out of the pubic eye lately.  After things seemed to have blown over with "Two and a Half Men" I thought that maybe Charlie would keep his life more private and work on himself.  I guess I was wrong.

Charlie began his tour, My Violent Torpedo of Truth: Defeat is Not an Option in Detroit, MI, where he was booed off of the stage. Although i could have seen this happening before the tour even started, those who actually wanted to hear the star speak must have been very disappointed.

After this, I truly began to hope that Charlie would get the message that his antics were no longer funny, but then he yet again showed up in the media.  Charlie kept two dogs with him at his residence in Beverly Hills, that is, until his ex-wife, Denise Richards took them away from him.  Sheen refused to let this go without a fight and began sending angry tweets.

Sheen tweeted," "We must bombard with Warlock Napalm, that traitor and loser whore #DUH-neese POOR-ards. a vile kidnapper and now dog thief. hate. SBW ... Like a Dinosaur Stampede from middle earth RAGING atop Col. Kilgore's main rotor, our assault must be EPIC. The Truth is our rocket fuel. c."

This is why Charlie Sheen has made it into Mediaocre's: Mediaocre Person of the Week.  Congrats, Charlie.

Mediaocre Song of the Week: "I'm Hot" by Angelina Pivarnick

Angelina Pivarnick, an ex-cast member of Jersey Shore has decided that being a Reality TV star is just not enough, especially with the abuse from the other members and having a "good" voice, making her want to expand to other entertainment markets, like music. The self-proclaimed singer and rapper released "I'm Hot", featuring Andy Stein after her leave from the show.

Pivarnick's vocals should be commended, just like Rebecca Black's. You can clearly tell that these two are musical "geniuses", especially with their strong and meaningful lyrics. Apparently the message that everyone wants to get across is that no matter how old you are, whether you be thirteen or twenty-two, everyone wants to party and hang out with friends. A great dream right there. At least our eyes are saved since there is no music video; I cannot say anything about our ears though.

Also apparently Pivarnick is "so hot, I'm like an ice cream cone with a cherry on top" but when were ice cream cones hot? I guess in Jersey they have hot ice cream.

Top 3 Most Anticipated Movies of 2011 (In My Opinion)

1.) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Harry Potter fan or not, everyone is aware of the last installment to the 8 part movie phenomenon. This movie has been anticipated since the start of all the films. Part 1 premiered in November of 2010 and left fans on the edge of their seats waiting for the last part that will put the series to an end. Part 2 brings the Hogwarts "trio" on an adventure to find the rest of the Deathly Hallows and kill finally Voldemort. In my opinion, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the number one anticipated film of 2011. Even if you don't like the films, you're probably a little curious on what is to come.

2.) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Following the last 3 films of the series, "On Stranger Tides" is highly anticipated for most Pirates of the Caribbean fans. Although this movie has eliminated Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, most find it refreshing to the series. This film brings Captain Johnny Depp and Captain Barbossa on an adventure to the Fountain of Youth, but compete with Black Beard and his daughter for it first. In my opinion, this will be highly anticipated and a hit in the box office.

3.) The Muppets
Oh yes, The Muppets; a part of every generations childhood and many more to come. Although this may target the younger generation, everyone will probably have a deep desire to see it and bring back some of their childhood. Starring actors and actresses like Jason Segel and Amy Adams, many people are anticipating the premiere of this movie to 'release their inner child'. So if you are one of the many who secretly will want to see this, you are not alone.

Donald Trump for President?

Donald Trump has announced that he will run for president in the 2012 election by trying to win the Republican nomination. However if he does not, he says it is quite possible for him to run as an independent.

Many know Trump because of his business empire, his show The Apprentice, and his outspoken personality. I know he is an extremely successful businessman, but will that make him a good president?

To me, it seems like Trump thinks he can run because his huge ego thinks he can. When interviewed on Good Morning America about his campaign, he said things like "Part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich," or "Look I'm a very smart man. I've made some great decisions in my life". Trump made America's current issues seem minuscule and said that if he wanted to he could put 600 million of his own dollars into the campaign.

Yes, he is a wealthy man, but I think he has forgotten that this is a democratic country. Trump will not be able to solve all of the country's problems on his ego and money alone. He will still need to pass bills through Congress and and get their consent like every other president.

The idea of having Donald Trump as president scares me. He seems a little too risky of a choice to be president, especially in such delicate times. However, maybe he is just what our country needs.
