Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor died last Wednesday, March 23 from congestive heart failure. She was 79 years old.


Taylor was a two-time Academy Award winning best actress and is considered as one of the greatest screen actors of Hollywood's Golden Age, an era of film taking place between 1910-1960. She was awarded Oscars in the films Butterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Viriginia Woolf? The American Film Institute also named her seventh on its Female Legends list.


Besides her work on screen, Taylor was known for her complicated personal life. She was married eight times to seven different husbands. Her husbands were Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, son of the founder of Hilton hotels, Michael Wilding, an actor 20 years older than her, Michael Todd, who was tragically killed in a plane crash, Eddie Fisher, Todd's best friend who consoled Taylor after his death, Richard Burton, an actor married to her for 10 years, Richard Burton again, John Warner a US Senator, and Larry Fortensky, a construction worker. Her multitude of marriages kept her in the Hollywood spotlight for quite some time.


Taylor was one of the greatest American actors of her time. Her award-winning roles are to be admired by many and her crazy personal life are what still resonates in peoples minds. Elizabeth Taylor will forever go down in Hollywood history as a legacy, she will be missed.
