Britney Spears is Back... Again

Britney Spears just released her new album "Femme Fatale"  on March 29, 2011. Britney has been working on this album since 2009, to make a better comeback then the last one.  The album consists of 12 songs including hit singles: Hold it Against Me ( January, 2011) and Till the World Ends ( March 2011).

Britney has even performed some of the songs at a surprise concert in Las Vegas, and another on Good Morning America.  The performances have hyped up many fans for the new album.  Fans are also hyped up by the announcement of her new tour with Enrique Iglesias.  One small problem with this, Enrique will not be going on tour with Brit.

Britney made a good choice picking Enrique ( who has just made a comeback) to help her continue to gain fans and step back into her role as the pop princess.   Enrique's publicist stated ,"Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album Euphoria. Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone."

I'm sorry to say that even though her album is ranked  as #1 on the Itunes hottest album list, her comeback as an icon is not looking very promising.  I just hope that this time there aren't any more custody battles and her hair stays intact.

Drunk, Uninvited, and Kicked Out.

Birthdays are all fun and games; well it was until Adam Lambert showed up. Lady Gaga, the newly twenty-five year old's party was crashed by the uninvited Lambert on Sunday. One would think these two would be friends with their outspoken personalities and since Gaga even gave Lambert the "perfect song". She once said he was funny, but she probably won't be thinking too highly of the drunken party crasher anymore.

Lambert's love for Gaga seemed to have gone too far, for his celebrating styles caused his more pain than love. Lambert's fist pumps made a hole in wall, I just wished he knew that fist pumping is usually done in the air, oh wait, his judgment was impaired. Lambert took it to next level when he tried to smear cake on Gaga's face and tried to put a doll into her mouth, but then Gaga's tolerance could take no more when he started to "serenade". Therefore doing what any sensible person would with a drunken party crasher, called security.

Maybe Lambert was just too showy.

Youtubes Got Talent?

Youtube seems to be a popular place to become famous and make a name for yourself, but what is considered "pure" talent today? It seems that any person with money, autotune, and swishy hair can get attention off of posting videos on the popular video sharing network.

Take Rebecca Black for instance, a thirteen year old girl who emereged from her Youtube music video "Friday" for the ridiculously simple lyrics and auto-tunned vocals. Black's video has reached over 60 million views and has risen to fame, but for all the wrong reasons. Most people can not stand her song and most only watch for the comedy. Miley Cyrus claims that people should not be able to just post a song on Youtube and immediatly go on tour. Although some people would disagree like Simon Cowell and Lady Gaga who claim Black is a "Genious" and that there is nothing wrong with her music.

Another example of fame brought by Youtube is 17 year old singer, Justin Beiber. Beiber was discovered on Youtube by posts his mother put up of him singing. He soon rose to fame amungst 'tweens' from all over. Although Beiber is loved by many, the staggering amount of "anti-Beiber" fans overcome any real fan.

How talented do you have to be to be successful in today's industry? It seems as though the popularity is not from the talent, but from the comedy in the effort.

Government Shutdown - What about Congress?

First off, our government is not shutting down. For all those who don't know, since our attentions are more focused on Charlie Sheen and "Friday" than our government. A government shutdown is when a government discontinues providing services that are not considered "essential". The issue of government shutdown has been in the talks for awhile now, but President Obama has been able to prolong government life by signing a bill, which gave it an extra three weeks for the government to discuss about.

The next big question is about that Senates' new proposal, which will halt Congress member's paychecks if a shutdown does ensue. This is a very admirable merit of our government and should be praised, but the chances of it being passed is highly unlikely, since opposition from the House of Representatives are much higher. This may be due to the fact that Senators make much more than newly appointed House members. Senators have a much more comfortable net worth of 2.4 million dollars compared to a House member whose median net worth is approximately 732,000 dollars (in 2009). Either way, it is still a "comfortable" number, except if you have six kids, student loans, and a mortgage to worry about, like new House member, Sean Duffy.

The Congress is too "essential" for a shutdown, therefore while non-"essential" employees may possibly have to worry about their much more thinly line pockets, the bill, which was unanimously passed by the Senate will most likely not go through House.

Therefore let's see what happens with our government on the fateful day of April 8th.

Lindsay Lohan Loses More Than Her Sanity

Most people begin a fresh start with changing something about their appearance. For example, many people get an entirely new haircut, new clothes, or new choices in makeup. But for Lindsay Lohan, this just wasn't enough.

Lindsay has decided to drop her last name (just like Cher, Beyonce, and Madonna) to give herself a fresh start.

I'm sorry Lindsay, but after the multiple rehabs and the felony grand theft charge, I don't think that changing your name to just Lindsay will do you much good. She is technically a big enough star to be recognized by her first name, but she disgraces the other stars who share the first name trend.
If Lindsay does improve her habits and restarts her careers I might be proven wrong, but dropping the Lohan name will virtually do nothing for Lindsay except for put her on the news for a mere 5 more minutes of fame.

"It's T-Shirt Time"

Nearly everyone is aware of MTV's reality hit tv show "The Jersey Shore", whether watching it as a fan, a hater, or even a parent hearing about it from their kids. "The Jersey Shore" has launched controversy of all kinds regarding terms and activities shown on the show. Although much dislike is put towards it, "The Jersey Shore" has had many effects on our society.

If you listen into a conversation of a "Jersey Shore" fan, you may hear strange phrases like "It's T-Shirt Time", "A Walking Holiday", "Creepin", and "GTL"

For the non-"Jersey Shore" fans, these terms range from meaning a schedule of the cast's daily activities (gym, tan, laundry), Following a girl or guy around that you have interest on, to changing your shirt for when you go to the clubs. Are these terms considered a good impact or a negative impact?

Some may argue that it is "dumbing" down today's youth, but others will say that it is allowing youth to have more fun and use phrases that make them laugh. Although the Jersey shore is somewhat pointless, it does seem to catch anyone who watches eyes'.

I guess one is to expect negative outcomes with something so popular. It will be up to the viewer to decide whether or not "GTL" or "Creepin" is right for them.

Bieber Fever???

jasmine V add justin bieber kiss to someoneJustin Bieber's music video "Baby" is the most disliked video on Youtube. And not just saying that as a generalization, it really is the most disliked on Youtube. As of March 28, 2011 at 4:33 pm, the JBiebs video has 1,150,264 dislikes to a meager 578,227 likes.

The other video close to taking the title of most hated is Rebecca Black's "Friday" totaling at 1,095,327, but that has only been up for a month as compared to Bieber's that has been up for over a year. I guess with more time to hate, Black's video will quickly surpass Bieber's as most disliked on Youtube.

I know that part of knowing you have made it as a star is having people love you and hate you. But when the love to hate is at a 2 to 1 ratio, it only makes me wonder if Justin Bieber is really famous for his talent, or for the fact that a huge number of people find him annoying.

Prince William's Secret Stag

A month before Prince William's highly publicized April 29 wedding, little brother Prince Harry planned an ultra secret bachelor party (or stag if you're British) for him with 20 of his closest friends. Harry managed to keep it private from the intrusive press that is always watching the royal family's every move.

Their original plan was to do water sports in Devon, England, but that plan failed when the party was leaked and media outlets were notified of the location. Plan B prevailed when no paparazzi showed up to the country house two hours outside of London where the party was held.

So the royal brothers enjoyed a completely private bachelor party like every other soon to be groom. How Harry managed to keep the entire thing on the down low is impressive, but I guess you develop some skills in that area when you've been around the press all your life.

Bret Michaels: Trooper to Suer

Bret Michaels, the lead singer of band Poison, performed at the 2009 Tony Awards show, which he now claims is the cause of his brain hemorrhage. His injury at the Tony Awards resulted from a part of the set lowering to quickly, causing him to fall down. At that time it was reported that he received a fractured nose and three stitches for his lip, nothing about any possible head trauma. He even claimed that he would hit up some after parties after getting an x-ray, showing his strong self. But what seemed to be a strong trooper in the past, decided to sue CBS and Tony Awards for his almost fatal brain hemorrhage.

Michaels was then diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage six months after the fatal blow to his head, but shouldn't he have sued them then and not now? It would make more sense for him to sue CBS and the Tony Awards when his subarachnoid hemorrhage occurred, in 2010, not in 2011.

Time gap between the incidents and the suing is strange enough but now after riding the coattails of surviving and being alive, he decides to sue.

Top 5 Most Hated Celebrities

5. Tom Cruise

Celebrities seem to go a bit crazy once and a while, but the engraved picture of Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch seems to 'jump' to the general public's mind. If you are unaware of the infamous 'couch jumping,' maybe you have heard of Cruise's other crazy incidents like yelling at Matt Lauer. Tom Cruise has put a "wacky" title to his name.

4. Britney Spears

Almost everyone is aware of Britney's mistakes and problems. From marrying Kevin Federline, going bald, smashing car windows, family problems, and lip syncing incidents, Britney has put a name to herself that people will never forget. Although she has broke out and came out with some radio hits, her image still lingers right behind her.

3. Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell...that should be enough in itself. From her battles with Donald Trump to her excessive running of her mouth, it seems O'Donnell always gets stuck in a bad situation. Although she is notable for saying offensive things, Rosie is a household name and will always make the media a bit more interesting.

2. Mel Gibson

Known for hating almost everything from different races, beliefs, and even British people, Mel Gibson has sparked extreme hate for his name. Once being semi-noteworthy, Mel's career has gone down the drain. Being arrested for DUI seems to be an upcoming trend as well...

1. Lindsay Lohan

Last, but certainly not least, Lindsay Lohan has ended up in all assortments of trouble. Once starting off as a beloved Disney star, Lohan seems to carry on the so called "Disney Curse" where young "tweens" starring on Disney spiral out of control into the Hollywood Lifestyle. Going to rehab, stealing expensive jewelry, and addiction to alcohol seem to be prominent in Lindsay's "career".

Mediaocre Song of the Week: Please, Turn it Down

Kim Kardashian has now joined in with the many reality stars who have dabbled in the art of singing. Her new single "Jam(Turn it Up)" premiered on On Air with Ryan Seacrest on March 2, 2011 and was also premiered on itunes that day.
The song is completely pointless. Kim, although not the best of singers anyway, has no emotion in singing the song at all, or at least it seems to be that way. Also, the lyrics are the same as many other pop songs of this era, about partying, and asking the DJ to turn the music up. There is nothing distinguishing Kim from any other pop start except for her voice. I also have no clue as to why there is gibberish in the beginning and sometimes throughout the song.
There is also one thing i noticed. Kim strangely sounds like Hillary Duff when she was 16 years old on her album "Metamorphosis". Hillary Duff was good, but only for her age. Kim being 30 years old should amount to be just a little more than 16, especially with all of the mention of alcohol in the song.
The one part i do admire about this song, is that proceeds are going to the St Jude Children's Research Hospital. As much as i am not a fan of this song, I do have respect for Kim, especially knowing where the proceeds are going.

Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

Elizabeth Taylor

Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor died last Wednesday, March 23 from congestive heart failure. She was 79 years old.

Taylor was a two-time Academy Award winning best actress and is considered as one of the greatest screen actors of Hollywood's Golden Age, an era of film taking place between 1910-1960. She was awarded Oscars in the films Butterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Viriginia Woolf? The American Film Institute also named her seventh on its Female Legends list.

Besides her work on screen, Taylor was known for her complicated personal life. She was married eight times to seven different husbands. Her husbands were Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, son of the founder of Hilton hotels, Michael Wilding, an actor 20 years older than her, Michael Todd, who was tragically killed in a plane crash, Eddie Fisher, Todd's best friend who consoled Taylor after his death, Richard Burton, an actor married to her for 10 years, Richard Burton again, John Warner a US Senator, and Larry Fortensky, a construction worker. Her multitude of marriages kept her in the Hollywood spotlight for quite some time.

Chris Brown "Strikes" Again

What comes to mind when you hear "Chris Brown"? Although I would like to think of his well known dance routines and catchy songs, I unfortunately will always think of the 2009 incident where he assaulted his then-girlfriend, singer Rhianna. Fans and the media have recently moved on from the incident, but Brown still has yet to disappoint.

After an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, Brown was provoked into another "out burst" after being asked questions involving past attack on Rhianna. He allegedly threw a chair at a window in his dressing room after the taping of the interview. Following this, he then threatened a producer of the show.

At least windows can't file law suits...or feel pain, which is a step towards improvement I guess. Although, if Chris wants to keep his record clean, and sell more music, he may want to invest in a punching bag.

Mediaocre Song of the Week: More Like Friday Night Nightmare

Rebecca Black, a thirteen year old “singer”, became an overnight sensation thanks to social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. Black’s song “Friday” took the internet by storm for better or for worse. She even gain recognition by being dubbed the next Justin Bieber, which I cannot say is entirely great, but fame is fame.
Black was able to show off her “impressive” vocals with the strong use of auto-tune but what peeved me the most, besides the horrendous singing, was the music video. Who lets thirteen year-olds drive cars? I do not know which state you live in but I am pretty sure that is illegal, especially without parental supervision.
Black may have became an overnight sensation but if you cannot decide which seat to sit in, how about you stick to studying and stay off the road.

Is Charlie Sheen a Winner?

Charlie Sheen has taken the media by storm after his "Bi-winning" interview where he was asked about his future in "Two and a Half Men.". He was told he needed to stay sober and put his life back together if he wanted to keep his job. However , Sheen went ballistic and said things during the interview like "I've got tiger blood" and "I'm banging 7-gram rocks a day." When asked if he was bi-polar, he simply stated that he was "bi-winning."

In the end Sheen's contract was terminated, but instead of leaving peacefully, he sued the producers for $100 million, according to People magazine.

Dr. Drew Pinsky from VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew says that in order for him to get his life back in order he needs to go to rehab. Many other people see his situation the same way; however, some see his story as humorous.

"Charlie Sheen is a winner," says Kiernan sarcastically, a high school junior from upstate New York, "he makes me laugh every time I see him."

On the contrary, Jenny, a classmate of Kiernan's states, "I think that he is a crazy person that needs to get help. He had a great show going that a lot of people liked, and now it's all going down the drain."

Charlie Sheen was at first known for his role in Two and a Half Men, and now he has fallen into Hollywood's list of "infamous" actors.
